The committee reviews applications
Which committee? This committee? We are a standards body. We define protocols. We do not ordain rabbis or approve certifiers.
And if not us, who? The Chief Rabbinate? They would not recognize half the authorities our members rely on. The Conservative movement? The Orthodox would not accept their approvals.
There is no body that speaks for all Jews on matters of authority.
