Devorah's words are heavy.
I want to tell a story, but I am not sure it helps. In Munkács, we had tokens — not this kind, but markers of belonging. Who was called to the Torah first. Who sat where. Who was greeted how.
Everyone knew what they meant. Until someone from outside arrived and did not know. Then we discovered that "everyone" meant "everyone already here."
I do not have a conclusion. I am just saying: Devorah is right that opacity protects insiders.
