Subject: The Geek Code discovery

I have looked at this Geek Code. I have questions.
1. The specification says d means dress. But what distinguishes d+ from d++? Who decides?
2. Some codes have sub-specifiers. ! means refusal to discuss. ? means uncertain. These are not the same.
3. The Version line says 3.1. What happened in versions 1 through 3?
Most importantly: how would I parse this? The codes run together without delimiters. The modifiers attach to different codes. Some codes are one letter, some are two or three.
My parser would not know where one code ends and another begins.
