Ben-Ari asks the practical question. I want to ask the prior one.
Have we consulted anyone about the implications of what Dr. Lobel proposes? She describes aggregating identity data across a population. She describes querying patterns of religious practice. She describes institutional analysis of self-description.
In halakha, there are categories of information that should not be compiled. A list of who is a mamzer is not kept, deliberately, because the existence of the list creates harm even if the list is never used. Some knowledge should remain distributed.
I do not say Dr. Lobel intends harm. I ask whether we have considered what we are building.
