Reb Kovacs's grandfather, as always, clarifies.
Perhaps the question is not whether we build, but how we build. Can we shape this knife for butter, not for throats?
Technical measures: hash-only storage, certificate expiration, no centralized database, federated verification. Policy measures: explicit prohibition on using certificates as gatekeeping, sunset clauses, community oversight.
None of these are perfect. But they are better than building naively.
