Subject: The bit calculation

I want to return to Dr. Stern's observation about bits.

If our format captures 66 to 100 bits of identity information, how does this compare to other identity representations?

A passport captures perhaps a dozen fields: name, birthdate, birthplace, sex, nationality. Photograph. Maybe 100 bits in the structured data, more in the image.

A dating profile captures more. Age, location, interests, preferences, free text. Perhaps thousands of bits.

Our format falls between. More expressive than a passport. Less expressive than a profile.

Is this the right level of resolution for Jewish identity? I do not know. But it is interesting that we land in this range.
