Rav Halevi is right about the tradition. I proposed a binary because I was thinking practically, but the sources are more nuanced.
Could we have: - G:M — male - G:F — female - G:A — androgynos - G:T — tumtum - G:x — decline to state
But I wonder if these Talmudic categories map to contemporary understandings. The androgynos of the Talmud is not necessarily the same as a non-binary person today. Are we conflating different frameworks?
