The Rebbetzin's question is fair. But there is a difference.
Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Mizrachi — these are Jewish categories. They describe Jewish histories, Jewish migrations, Jewish practices. They are not defined by non-Jewish states.
Country codes are defined by the United Nations. They change when borders change. They tell us about politics, not about Jewish experience.
Perhaps we should use the traditional categories instead.
