Rav Halevi is right that the traditional categories are ancestral, not geographic.
But perhaps that is correct. Perhaps Jewish geography is not about where you are, but where your family came from. The map of the Jewish world is a map of migrations, not territories.
But then how do we encode someone whose family came from five different places?
