Subject: Committee status

The chair observes that we have discussed:

1. Country codes — rejected because political borders do not map to Jewish identity 2. Traditional regions — rejected because Ashkenaz, Sepharad, Mizrach are ancestral, not geographic 3. Formative location — rejected because this overlaps with the deferred formative experiences discussion 4. Context tokens — rejected because contexts describe situations, not persons 5. The semantic web — rejected again 6. Languages — rejected because most Jews no longer speak heritage languages 7. Esperanto — the chair declines to address this

We have made no progress. The committee appears to be going in circles.

I recommend we defer geographic identity to version 2, along with formative experiences and gender.
