Dr. Rosenberg asks how external parties can audit our system.

I confess I do not understand the question.

My grandfather had a phrase for this kind of request. When someone he did not know asked to see his papers, he would say, in Yiddish so they would not understand, "vos darf er visn?" What does he need to know?

Then he would ask why. Then he would ask again. Then, if he was lucky, he would run.

I do not mean this as a joke. The whole discussion that Dr. Rosenberg read was about why we should not build systems that make identity legible to external auditors. He read Reb Shimon's story about the kehilla records in Munkacs. He read what happened when those records were handed over.

Now he asks how we will make our records legible to external auditors.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding. But this seems backwards.
