Nu, Rav Halevi's question reminds me of a story.

In Munkács, there was a man whose father died on 15 Adar. Every leap year, he observed yahrzeit twice — once in Adar I and once in Adar II. He said: "My father was not a man who could be honored only once."

The rabbi told him this was unnecessary. He said: "Perhaps. But unnecessary is not forbidden."

I do not know what encoding he would have preferred.
