Ben-Ari misunderstands my concern.
I am not saying we must not build. I am saying we must build carefully. A shul membership list serves a bounded purpose for a bounded community. What we are proposing is different in kind, not just in scale.
We are designing a system that: - Encourages Jews worldwide to document their identity - Funnels these descriptions through a central service - Issues certificates that link identities to individuals - Maintains uniqueness records indefinitely
This is not a shul membership list.
