Subject: The question before us
The committee has raised serious concerns that deserve careful consideration.
I would frame the question as follows: we are designing two things that may be separable.
First, a format. The Jew Code specification defines syntax and vocabulary for self-description. A person can write a block, put it in their signature, share it with friends. No submission required. No registry involved.
Second, a service. Let's Brit would accept submissions, verify uniqueness, issue certificates. This service requires some form of record-keeping.
Must these be linked? Could the format exist without the service? Could the service exist with different policies?
I invite the committee's thoughts.
