The proposed language is clear. I particularly appreciate the distinction between ? and ~.
One addition: perhaps we should note that * is for situations that resist spectrum thinking entirely. Not uncertain, not approximate, but genuinely irreducible to more-or-less.
IL* is not Israel-positive or Israel-negative. It is Israel-complicated. The relationship exists but does not fit on a line.
