Devorah says there is no neutral position. This is wise.
In the old country, there was a saying: if you try to please everyone, you please no one. My bubbe said this about cooking, but it applies to specifications too.
We cannot include gender in a way that satisfies everyone. We also cannot exclude it without cost. Either way, someone is hurt.
Perhaps the question is not what we should do, but what we are equipped to do. The committee is not equipped to resolve questions that communities have argued for decades.
