Then surely the solution is to ensure the baseline registry is comprehensive. We include Iraqi terms alongside Ashkenazi terms, Yemenite terms, Ethiopian terms.
The software does not care which word we use. It needs a token to identify a concept. If we include all the variants as equivalent tokens, or as aliases, or as see-also references, then no community is excluded.
