And yet what else can we do?
If we use SHUL, we encode Ashkenazi terms. If we use BEIT-KNESSET, we encode Israeli Hebrew. If we use SYNAGOGUE, we encode English. If we use opaque codes, CTX-0001-WORSHIP-SPACE, someone still writes the specification that defines what the code means. Someone still chooses the words.
I confess I do not see a solution. We cannot build infrastructure that emerges from nowhere. It must emerge from us, and we are not neutral.
