My grandfather told me about a land dispute in Munkács that hinged on a date. A contract said "delivered on the 15th day of the month." But which calendar? The landlord used the Julian calendar. The tenant used our calendar. The government used the Gregorian calendar.
The court asked: what was the actual day of delivery?
The landlord said: "The 15th."
The judge said: "The 15th of which month, in which year, according to which calendar?"
The landlord said: "The 15th. The 15th is the 15th."
He lost the case.
"Proleptic Gregorian" is a decision. It is not neutral.
