My grandfather would say: two Jews, three interpretations.
If we write K and k into the specification, some will use the distinction carefully. Others will use it carelessly. Others will not use it at all. This is what happens with any notation.
The question is not whether we can prevent variation. We cannot. The question is whether we provide a tool that enables expression. The tool will be misused. All tools are misused. But it may also be used well.
