The chair asks whether gender is Jewish.
My grandfather would have found this question strange. Of course gender was Jewish. Men and women had different obligations. Different roles in the home, the synagogue, the community. To be a Jewish man was different from being a Jewish woman.
But this is not what modern people mean by gender being Jewish. They mean something about identity, about how one experiences oneself.
I am not sure my grandfather's Judaism and this modern question are discussing the same thing. Perhaps they are both right. Perhaps neither.
