Ben-Ari is right that we draw arbitrary lines. But some lines are more charged than others.
If we include G codes, we enter a space where: - Different communities have incompatible views - Trans and non-binary Jews may feel erased or forced into categories - We must choose between Talmudic frameworks and modern frameworks - Whatever we decide will be contested
With ethnicity, disagreements are minor. With gender, disagreements are fundamental.
Perhaps the specification should not enter spaces where it cannot help.
