Let me propose something concrete.
In signal processing — I have been reading about this — there is a concept of sensor fusion. Multiple sensors observe the same phenomenon. Each sensor has known characteristics: precision, reliability, failure modes. An algorithm combines the sensor readings, weighting them appropriately.
What if we defined reliability characteristics for indicator categories? Astral indicators: high precision, weather-dependent. Faunal indicators: moderate precision, behavior-dependent. Social indicators: low precision, culturally variable.
Then a reader could combine indicators using established methods. This is how navigation systems work. Why not time assertions?
