For implementation purposes, I will use 1 Tishrei 5001 as an internal epoch. This is arbitrary but within the historical range of the calendar. It avoids the large numbers of counting from Creation. It avoids the theological questions of significant dates.

My implementation note will say: epoch is arbitrary, chosen for numerical convenience.

Is this acceptable?
