The Rebbetzin's point is simpler.
The year numbers we use already depend on calculations made in dialogue with other calendars. The traditional date of Creation was computed by working backward from historical dates that were synchronized across calendar systems.
There is no purely Jewish epoch. The calendar itself was established in relation to other calendars.
